Stop Fake Service Dog Products (Petition)

I have posted a blog or two about individuals who have pets and pass them off as service dogs so they either don’t have to pay a certain fee or they can have their pet with them at all times. This is so wrong on many levels, but i’m not going to get into that rant again because I’ve already done it before. I’m writing to share with you a petition, started by Canine Companions for Independence, a service dog organization that works with individuals with mobility impairments. However, they started a petition for ALL service dog owners. Their petition is to get regulations on those internet companies that sell service dog gear and advertise to their customers that they can pass their pets off as service dogs with said gear. Most, if not all, service dog organizations give this gear when they give you the dog. Please sign this petition so that we, service dog owners, don’t have to deal with as many of the repercussions of fake service dogs.

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I couldn’t agree more. The amount of time and dedication I put into raising service dog for the blind and to think others can just buy a coat off the internet. Makes me sick.
